The end of your local tackle shop is nigh, Most wholesalers in the tackle trade are selling items to us The tackle shops at a price IE £1.00 but selling the same item to big super markets and high street stores at 1/4 of the price. these stores do not sell live baits and do not know how to give you advice on how to use a certain type of rod, or types of fishing. I have just had a customer that bought a match rod from a super store to sea fish in the river tyne,With 170g weights. After telling the customer the rod can only be used with a 6g at the most, He told me the women in the super store said it was ok for sea fishing , My answer was i do not give advice to anyone about baked beans only correct advice about fishing rods. At the end of the day the customers are getting better prices But where will you buy your bait in a few years time the super stores will not stock maggot, ragworm, lug, fresh crab etc. You will not see a story like this in your fishing mags as they do not wish to upset advertisers
